Day 1: The Early Years (Late 1800s – 1919) Activity 2: The Right to Vote

On your blog tell us what you think about the fact that women were not allowed to vote in Saudi Arabia until 2015.

I think It was a silly idea that women weren't allowed to vote, I also think it was unfair to all the women that wanted to vote but  couldn't. I'm happy now that every one of age can vote in Saudi Arabia. When researching I came across this: '
Abdullah of Saudi Arabia granted women the right to vote in 2011 for the local vote. Then it was in 2015 Saudi Arabia allowed women to vote in the General Elections'.

On 19 September 1893 lord Glasgow signed a new Electoral Act to allow women to vote in New Zealand, I was surprised that there was a time when women couldn't vote.

Day 1 "Summer Learning Journey" In the beginning Activity 1 The First Settlers

I signed up for something I think could be really cool, it is called "Summer Learning Journey" and it is a good chance at improving your writing, reading and spelling so have you ever thought about joining.

The task this summer is to learn all about the history, people, and events that have shaped our beautiful country of Aotearoa throughout the past two centuries

As part of this journey on day one, we have to state three facts about Maui, here is mine.

    Fact 1.

    • Māui takes the jaw-bone of his ancestress Muri-ranga-Whenua and uses it as a weapon in his first expedition, to slow the sun down, so that the days are longer for them to do more things like farm more crop, play with there kids and build more houses.

    Fact 2.

    • Māui wanted to go fishing with his brothers but they keep making up excuses like he was to little but Māui was getting really angry so he thought to prove them wrong by hiding in the canoe (South Island, New Zealand) with his magic enchanted jawbone hook and caught the biggest fish (North Island, New Zealand)

    Fact 3.

    • Māui is now famous for all the really cool things he has done for us.
      • Slowing the Sun.
      • Fishing up the North Island
      • Maui was a DemiGod that made his parent proud by helping people.

Another story  I have heard about is Māui slowing the Sundown with a jaw bone and handmade rope. Maui had lots of help to hold the Sun and slow it down.
